Djokovic Advances to Adelaide Final with Victory Over Medvedev

On Saturday, Novak Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in the Adelaide International semifinals, securing his spot in the final against Sebastian Korda. Djokovic, currently ranked fifth in the world, dominated the match against the former world number one Russian, winning 6-3, 6-4.

Despite appearing to tweak his hamstring early on in the match, Djokovic assured fans that the injury was not serious and he was able to continue playing without issue. In the women’s draw, 19-year-old Czech qualifier Linda Noskova caused a major upset by defeating world number two Ons Jabeur 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, earning her a place in her first-ever final against second seed Aryna Sabalenka.

Sebastian Korda, the unseeded son of former world number two Petr Korda, was leading 7-6 (7/5), 1-0 in his match against Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka when Nishioka called for a medical timeout for treatment on his upper right leg before ultimately withdrawing from the match.

Korda, 22, expressed excitement at the opportunity to play in the final and said he was looking forward to learning from either Djokovic or Medvedev. Korda has previously won one title, on clay in Parma in 2021, and has reached two finals in his career.
